1-25-10 Additional Follow-up notes

Hi.

Just a few follow-up notes from today...

1.) The group that went today did a good job facilitating a detailed understanding of the article by discussing all its points. The PowerPoint and handout worked well to give us additional pts. of reference.

2.) For future discussions, perhaps each group should also consider just highlighting the main pts. and focus more on how to stimulate class discussion. The group that went today left us with many things to think about with regard to how students take and interpret teacher feedback, but we seem to run out of time to really dialogue about teacher comments and revision.

3.) That said, I invite the rest of the group to really think about how to get your peers talking about the article, especially since you have more time to reflect, plan, and create.

Finally..... In terms of Blackboard ----

1.) I figured out today that if I create assignments for each grade, the grade book system will automatically add the total points you earned to-date. So, the 'calculated' column will give you the total pts. possible and the total pts. you've earned. All you'll need to do is divide the two numbers: total pts you earned / the total points possible = overall percentage.

2.) So, in other words, the assignments that appear in blackboard are only there so that your points will automatically be added. You don't have to do anything with them.

3.) That said, the grade from today is already in Blackboard.

See you Wed. Come ready to verbally participate.
